Race starts promptly at 6:15 am . Cut-off time is 1:15 pm to finish the race with nutritional and medical support provided ... that is a total of 7 hours to finish the race. |
| Location |
The ultramarathon starts in Central, Utah. You will be shuttled to the race start; do not drive to the race start so as to ensure everyones safety. (See bus shuttle schedule below on buses.) |

| Limited Registration |
The ultramarathon is capped at 250 runners. Registration is available online at Active.com. Costs are below in cost area. The race registration closes on April 1st 10 days prior to the race. Alternatively, you can register by postal mail by downloading race registration form but it must be postmarked by March 7th 2009. All postal registrations marked after this date will not be accepted. |
| Acceptance Letter |
Once you are registered you should receive an email confirmation from Active of your successful registration. If you register by postal mail you will receive an e-mail confirmation. |
| Packet Pickup |
Packets can be picked up at the St. George Running Center (in Sunset Corners next to Resultz Fitness) MAP Packets can be picked up the day prior to the race on Friday April 10th from 4pm-9pm. Packets will not be available at the race start, please ensure you pickup your packet the night prior. Also, if you plan on running in two sets of shoes please leave your shoes you will run miles 12-31 in at the St. George Running Center when you pick up your packet. A bag will be provided so ensure you label it with your bib number. It is your responsibility to mark the bag clearly. We are not responsible for lost shoes. This is a courtesy to runners and shoe drop is done at your own risk (see Shoe Pickup below). |
| Course |
The course will start at the bus unloading area on SR-18 and Pine Valley Road intersection.The couse begins with 12 miles of trail and finished with 19 miles of paved road. For photos, elevation profiling, maps, etc see our 'Course' page. |
| Temperature |
The race course temperature on April 11th in 2008 was 48° at 5am in Central ... and by 10am was 64° ... at 12 noon in Ivins it was 76°. Please dress accordingly and check the weather forecast prior to raceday. |
| Bus Transportation |
All runners must take bus transportation (yellow school buses) to starting line. Buses start loading at 4:20am [updated 4/14/08] and the buses will caravan to race start at 4:30am sharp. Buses all leave at same time ... don't be late, if you miss the caravan of busses you will miss the race. Buses load at Unity Park in Ivins, MAP of 400 S 400 W Ivins, UT 84738 |

| Time Limit |
We allow runners 7 hours of support to complete the ultramarathon. At 1:15 pm [updated 4/14/08pm] MDT the aid stations and police support are pulled from the course but runners are welcome to continue on their own. |
| Lodging |
We have negotiated reduced rates at Best Western in St. George at over 20% off regular rates. For the runners to receive this rate they simply need to call the hotel at 1-888-222-3946 and mention the Red Mountain 50k group rate. | Vehicles |
No personal support vehicles, baby strollers, roller blades, bicycles, motorcycles will be allowed on the course. |
| Road Closure |
The organizers have been working with UDOT (Utah Division of Transportation), the Washington County Sheriff's Department, and the Forest Service on road management. The course will be managed by local law enforcement. Escort vehicles will be available for heavy traffic. Runners will run on left side of road and should be watchful of traffic. |
| Aid Stations and Porta-toilets |
Aid stations will be at the start, finish, at miles 3,6 [self-serve on first two tables] ,9,12,15,18,21,23,25,26,27,28,29,30. Porta-toilets will be available at the start, finish, and every 3 miles. (Note: Porta-toilets will be more limited during miles 1-12 on the dirt trail.) All aid stations will also have Gatorade (on the first tables), water (on the last tables), Vaseline, band-aides, and toilet paper. In the second half of the course, all aid stations will have fruit and some will have GU energy gel. |
| Runners Receive |
Short sleeve tech shirt, finisher's medallion, bus transportation to start, pre and post drinks and fruit, and you get to run one of the most scenic ultramarathons in the country during it's inaugural year! |

| Results |
RunnerCard will be doing the timing for the race and each runner will receive an official wallet size card with their time and finish placement. This card will be available for each runner shortly after finishing. Your results will also be posted online on this site under race results area the evening following the race. |
| Awards |
We will award 1st Place medals to the top male and female finishers. |
| Shoe Pickup |
On the race you may drop off and switch into road running shoes at mile 12. Leave your road shoes you wish to pickup when you pick up your race packet (see packet pickup above). Following the race, shoes can be picked up at the finish after 11am at the shoe pickup area near the finish. |
| Clothing Drop Off |
Clothing drop at race start only. We will not be gleaning any clothing from the course, what you drop you will need to retrieve. Please leave your personal clothing in your packet pickup bag at race start. Clothing will be available after 11am at race finish. |
